{"id":298336,"date":"2023-11-23T17:20:51","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T16:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=298336"},"modified":"2023-11-23T17:20:51","modified_gmt":"2023-11-23T16:20:51","slug":"gov-uzodinma-sacks-commissioner-special-adviser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/23\/gov-uzodinma-sacks-commissioner-special-adviser\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov Uzodinma sacks Commissioner, Special Adviser"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Secretary to the Government of Imo state, Cosmos Iwu disclosed the development<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Thursday sacked two of his appointees, Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Noble Atulegwu, and the Special Adviser\/General Manager of Imo Housing Corporation, Mbakwe Obi.<\/p>\n<p>This was confirmed to newsmen in Owerri, in a statement by the Secretary to the Government of Imo state, Cosmos Iwu.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, \u201cThe Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/11\/22\/uzodinma-assents-to-bill-extending-teachers-retirement-age-to-65\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uzodinma<\/a> has approved the immediate suspension from the office of Hon Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Hon Noble Atulegwu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis Excellency has similarly approved the immediate suspension from office of the SA\/GM Imo Housing Corporation, Hon Mbakwe Obi Jnr. Both affected officials are to hand over to the most senior officers in the respective offices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, no reason was stated for their sack, but sources linked their sack to issues of protests over the alleged forceful take over of land of some communities in Imo state.<\/p>\n<p>In another development, the Governor had on Monday presented N185 million as compensation to bereaved families of security personnel killed at Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state on 19 September.<\/p>\n<p>Gunmen had killed, on the day, five security officials attached to a military joint taskforce that was on routine patrol in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Over six members of the taskforce who were injured in the attack also benefited from the compensation.<\/p>\n<p>Uzodinma described the slain security personnel as heroes, and prayed to God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss and to also grant the survivors quick recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The governor noted that the occasion brought to limelight the insecurity challenges in Imo State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is beyond what people think and it has a negative impact on the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was not the first time the state government would compensate families of those killed while protecting Imo State residents, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Secretary to the Government of Imo state, Cosmos Iwu disclosed the development The Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Thursday sacked two of his appointees, Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Noble Atulegwu, and the Special Adviser\/General Manager of Imo Housing Corporation, Mbakwe Obi.
