{"id":301304,"date":"2023-12-16T19:28:37","date_gmt":"2023-12-16T18:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=301304"},"modified":"2023-12-16T19:28:37","modified_gmt":"2023-12-16T18:28:37","slug":"sanwo-olu-approves-wage-award-december-bonus-for-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/12\/16\/sanwo-olu-approves-wage-award-december-bonus-for-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanwo-Olu approves wage award, December bonus for workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>He also authorized an end-of-year bonus equivalent to 50% of the basic salary for political appointees, public servants, local government and council employees, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board staff, and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu sanctioned a N35,000 wage increase for the state&#8217;s public servants.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he authorized an end-of-year bonus equivalent to 50% of the basic salary for political appointees, public servants, local government and council employees, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board staff, and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps.<\/p>\n<p>The directive, detailed in a circular bearing reference number CIR\/HOS\/&#8217;23\/Vol. 1\/109, was issued and signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro.<\/p>\n<p>The circular titled \u20182023 End Of Year Bonus And Implementation Of Wage Awards\u2019, stated that the governor approved the payments as part of his administration\u2019s appreciation of public servants\u2019 contribution towards the progress of the state, as well as his commitment to their welfare.<\/p>\n<p>The statement further noted that the end-of-year bonus and the wage award which would be paid alongside December 2023 salary, would be non-taxable.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cAs part of the present administration\u2019s continuous appreciation of the contributions of all public servants towards the advancement of the state and its unrelenting commitment to the welfare of its workforce, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr.<\/p>\n<p>Governor has graciously approved the payment of 50% of basic salary as end-of-year bonus for all political appointees and public servants, including employees of local governments and local council development areas, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board and Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the same vein, Mr. Governor has further approved the implementation of the wage award (palliative) pending the review of the national minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the 50% of basic salary as an end-of-year Bonus, as well as the wage award palliative), will be paid alongside the December 2023 salary as a \u201cnon-taxable element\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSequel to the foregoing, public servants are implored to continually strive for excellence in providing qualitative service delivery to the people of the State in line with Mr Governor\u2019s THEMES+ Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccordingly, all heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies are hereby enjoined to note the content of this circular and give it the service-wide publicity it deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He also authorized an end-of-year bonus equivalent to 50% of the basic salary for political appointees, public servants, local government and council employees, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board staff, and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu sanctioned a N35,000 wage increase for the state&#8217;s public servants.
