{"id":304236,"date":"2024-01-04T15:11:44","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T14:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=304236"},"modified":"2024-01-04T15:11:44","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T14:11:44","slug":"pwds-decry-alleged-discriminatory-distribution-of-palliatives-in-bauchi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/01\/04\/pwds-decry-alleged-discriminatory-distribution-of-palliatives-in-bauchi\/","title":{"rendered":"PWDs decry alleged discriminatory distribution of palliatives in Bauchi"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Abdullahi Isma\u2019il, the association&#8217;s chairman, reacted to reports stating the conclusion of palliative distribution by the ministry, as covered by several news platforms<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Association of People With Disabilities (APWD) in Bauchi expressed disappointment in state government officials for overlooking their inclusion when distributing palliatives.<\/p>\n<p>APWD called upon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/12\/30\/plateau-killers-are-hell-bent-on-taking-our-land-former-governor-jang\/\">Governor<\/a> Bala Mohammed to investigate the distribution of items and funds provided by the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi Isma\u2019il, the association&#8217;s chairman, reacted to reports stating the conclusion of palliative distribution by the ministry, as covered by several news platforms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s sad that the vulnerable group and persons with disabilities didn\u2019t receive their share of the palliatives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re the right people to be considered first before any other group in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were initially advised to be patient, with the assurance that the palliatives would reach us after being distributed to all 20 LGAs in the state. Unfortunately, this did not happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe patiently accepted their decision. But, in the end, nothing was given to us. Only a few members selected during the commissioning of the palliatives received anything. After the commissioning, the distribution stopped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet the truth be told. She (the commissioner) needs to do the right thing. Denying persons of their rights just because she has a small issue with them will not earn her any honour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank His Excellency, Sen. Bala A. Mohammed, for releasing the palliatives for persons with disabilities.
