{"id":306770,"date":"2024-01-22T11:22:43","date_gmt":"2024-01-22T10:22:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=306770"},"modified":"2024-01-22T11:23:31","modified_gmt":"2024-01-22T10:23:31","slug":"just-in-gov-fubara-loses-as-court-nullifies-passage-of-rivers-2024-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/01\/22\/just-in-gov-fubara-loses-as-court-nullifies-passage-of-rivers-2024-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST-IN: Gov Fubara Loses As Court Nullifies Passage Of Rivers 2024 Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The Inspector General of Police was ordered to immediately give adequate security to the Speaker and legislators loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>Justice Omotoso ordered the Clerk and the Deputy Clerk to resume office immediately and unhindered.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, voided and set aside the presentation and passage of Rivers State 2024 budget by a group of four-member legislators in the State.<\/p>\n<p>The court in a judgment delivered by Justice James Omotoso ordered the governor of the State, Siminalaye Fubara to represent the budget to the legally constituted House of Assembly under the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule.<\/p>\n<p>James Omotoso quashed the withholding of the House of Assembly fund on the ground, declaring that he has no constitutional power to do so.<\/p>\n<p>The court restrained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/01\/22\/just-in-gov-fubara-loses-as-court-nullifies-passage-of-rivers-2024-budget\/\">Governor Fubara<\/a> from frustrating the House of Assembly under Amaewhule from sitting or interfering in the affairs of the House.<\/p>\n<p>The redeployment of the Clerk and the Deputy Clerk done by the Governor was declared null and void and was set aside.<\/p>\n<p>The Inspector General of Police was ordered to immediately give adequate security to the Speaker and legislators loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Omotoso ordered the Clerk and the Deputy Clerk to resume office immediately and unhindered.<\/p>\n<p>The National Assembly was also barred from taking over the Rivers State House of Assembly or accepting or treating any request from Governor Fubara.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Fubara was ordered to release all monies standing in the credit of the House of Assembly to Martin Amaewhule.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/withinnigeria.com\"><strong>WITHIN NIGERIA<\/strong><\/a> reports that all the issues in dispute were resolved in favour of Wike\u2019s loyalists.<\/p>\n<p>Details later\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Inspector General of Police was ordered to immediately give adequate security to the Speaker and legislators loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike.
