{"id":308399,"date":"2024-02-01T12:04:23","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T11:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=308399"},"modified":"2024-02-01T12:04:23","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T11:04:23","slug":"why-i-refused-to-join-labour-party-sowore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/01\/why-i-refused-to-join-labour-party-sowore\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I refused to join Labour Party \u2013 Sowore"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Speaks on difference in ideology\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has revealed differences in ideology as the reason he refused to join the Labour Party when he was approached.<\/p>\n<p>In a two-minute video shared on his X account on Wednesday, Sowore stated that the Labour Party shares similarities in ideology with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that the presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi, would have taken measures such as fuel subsidy removal, just like President Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI often tell the Labour Party people that they are not different from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/01\/pdp-appoints-new-national-woman-leader\/\">PDP<\/a> and APC. We often argue because they are very visible on social media. And they would attack us all the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, one time that they reached me, asking me to join them, I said I can\u2019t join the Labour Party\u2014for a number of reasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne, the Labour Party is the party without workers. And that is the truth. And for those of you who know Airbnb, short rentals. The Labour Party is like a short rental; you pack in, and the owners will have to drive you out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Labour Party is not a new party. The former governor of my state, Ondo (Segun Mimiko), was in the Party. He left the state worse than he met it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told them that after the (2023) election, you will be shouting revolution. The next day after the (presidential) election in February, I woke up, and \u2018Revolution Now\u2019 was trending.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018Why is the Labour Party trending?\u2019 I discovered that it is the Labour Party people asking for revolution. That is after they were cheated out of the system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, the biggest people who are mobilising for revolution are the Labour Party people, because what Tinubu is doing now is what they would have done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHad Peter Obi become the President of Nigeria, he would have removed fuel subsidy. He said it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat Tinubu is doing now is what Atiku would have done if he had become president.
