{"id":308834,"date":"2024-02-05T05:55:58","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T04:55:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=308834"},"modified":"2024-02-05T05:55:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-05T04:55:58","slug":"tcn-restores-collapsed-national-grid-after-hours-of-outage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/05\/tcn-restores-collapsed-national-grid-after-hours-of-outage\/","title":{"rendered":"TCN restores collapsed national grid after hours of outage"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>He disclosed the blackout was caused by partial disturbance experienced by the grid about 11:21Hours on Sunday<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, says\u00a0 the collapsed national grid has been fully restored.<\/p>\n<p>Within Nigeria had earlier reported that the whole country was tosssed into darkness on Sunday after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/04\/darkness-envelopes-nigeria-as-national-grid-collapses-again\/\">grid collapsed<\/a> for the first time in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>However, a statement subsequently issued by TCN\u2019s Public Affairs General Manager, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed the restoration of the collapsed grid.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed the blackout was caused by partial disturbance experienced by the grid about 11:21Hours on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The statement noted that the incident affected the Ibom power islanded, feeding Eket, Ekim, Itu and Uyo transmission substations.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ndidi, the \u201cTCN initiated immediate restoration of the affected part of the grid, and presently, the grid is fully restored.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrior to the incident, the total generation on the grid was 3,901.25 MW at 08:00Hours, a little over three hours before the time of partial collapse\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The company, however, noted that low power generation has persisted since \u201cJanuary 2024, to date, exacerbating daily due to the lingering gas constraint\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the National Control Center, NCC, the Internet of Things, IoT, revealed that just before the partial disturbance, which occurred at 11:21Hrs today, Sapele Steam &amp; Egbin Substations lost a total of 29.32MW &amp; 343.84MW at 11:20:14Hrs &amp; 11:20:17Hrs respectively, totalling 373.16MW.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis, combined with the current low power generation due to gas constraints, caused the imbalance leading to the partial system disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGas constraints continue to impact grid flexibility and stability,\u201d the statement added<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He disclosed the blackout was caused by partial disturbance experienced by the grid about 11:21Hours on Sunday The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, says\u00a0 the collapsed national grid has been fully restored.
