{"id":309301,"date":"2024-02-08T07:22:39","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T06:22:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=309301"},"modified":"2024-02-08T07:22:39","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T06:22:39","slug":"court-sends-lagos-pastor-wife-to-prison-over-n33-8m-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/08\/court-sends-lagos-pastor-wife-to-prison-over-n33-8m-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Court sends Lagos pastor, wife to prison over N33.8m fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The couple, whose addresses were not divulged, were arraigned in the chamber of the magistrate<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/06\/food-beverage-tobacco-workers-protest-in-lagos-over-ban-on-sachet-drinks\/\">Lagos State<\/a>, the Pastor of Kingdom Power International Christian Praying Centee Ishashi, Lagos, Azuka Ohez, has been remanded in a correctional facility over fraudulent activities.<\/p>\n<p>He was was remanded alongside his wife, Mary Ohez, by a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The duo are standing trial over their alleged involvement in defrauding a lubricant company of N33.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.<\/p>\n<p>The couple, whose addresses were not divulged, were arraigned in the chamber of the magistrate.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatubosun, ordered that the couple be remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre until the perfection of their bails.<\/p>\n<p>Olatubosun granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each, with two responsible sureties each in like sum.<\/p>\n<p>She, however, adjourned the case until May 13 for a substantive trial.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, ASP Rita Momah, had told the court that the duo and some others still at large committed the offences on July 13, 2023, at Oba Ayoka St, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Momah alleged that the couple and one Chijioke Ezekirian conspired to steal and receive proceeds of sales from Climax Lubricants Industries in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>She averred that the couple knowingly received the total sum of N33.8 million through Fidelity Bank KPICPC account numbers 2033723459 and 5600923549 from Chijioke Ezekirian.<\/p>\n<p>Momah said the offences contravene Sections 328 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.
