{"id":310146,"date":"2024-02-14T07:42:02","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T06:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=310146"},"modified":"2024-02-14T07:42:02","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T06:42:02","slug":"ogun-plans-electric-trucks-motorbikes-to-ease-burden-of-fuel-subsidy-removal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/14\/ogun-plans-electric-trucks-motorbikes-to-ease-burden-of-fuel-subsidy-removal\/","title":{"rendered":"Ogun plans electric trucks, motorbikes to ease burden of fuel subsidy removal"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Mr Abiodun noted that the multi-modal transport master plan of the state had created a vista of opportunities for residents and travellers, and had enhanced business developments across all strata<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State announced on Tuesday that the state is poised to launch trucks and motorbikes powered by alternative energy sources.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the 18th National Council of Transportation conference with the theme &#8220;Enhancing innovations and technologies for sustainable transportation: Tackling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/13\/akpabio-seeks-accessible-affordable-energy-for-nigerians\/\">energy<\/a> challenges,&#8221; held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, the governor, represented by Commissioner for Transportation Olugbenga Dairo, emphasized Ogun State&#8217;s commitment to pioneering sustainable transportation systems using alternative energy.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted the conference&#8217;s relevance, particularly in the current energy crisis triggered by the fuel subsidy removal, impacting transportation costs and related services.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cEver before the Federal Government rolled out plans for the Compressed Natural Gas project, the state has taken the initiative by rolling out the CNG-compliant vehicles. These vehicles will support a green environment and ease the transportation burden faced by the public. Transportation with other alternative sources of energy, which include electric trucks and motorbikes would soon be launched in the state.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Mr Abiodun noted that the multi-modal transport master plan of the state had created a vista of opportunities for residents and travellers, and had enhanced business developments across all strata.<\/p>\n<p>He enjoined delegates to build on the potential in cross fertilisation of ideas, innovations and technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said that at the end of the conference, states across the country would have developed a new model in arresting the energy crisis and the nation would be the better for it.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Michael Oloruntola, expressed appreciation to the state government for hosting the conference.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Oloruntola said that the conference sought to uphold the prioritisation of innovative technologies that enhanced affordability, accessibility, safety, security and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>He urged that deliberations at the conference should tilt towards sustainable transport development which would enhance the welfare of Nigerians vis-a-vis creating job opportunities and stimulating economic growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mr Abiodun noted that the multi-modal transport master plan of the state had created a vista of opportunities for residents and travellers, and had enhanced business developments across all strata Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State announced on Tuesday that the state is poised to launch trucks and motorbikes powered by alternative energy sources.
