Aggrieved youths have set ablaze the houses of suspected illegal drug dealers in Irete Autonomous Community in Owerri-Wesr LGA in Imo state.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, youths in Umuelele village, off Owerri\/Onitsha Expressway, fueled by frustration, took action against the scourge of illicit drugs in the community.<\/p>\n

A village source<\/strong><\/a> claimed that warnings and letters had been issued previously to drug barons, demanding their immediate departure, but these warnings were ignored, leading the youths to set fire to their homes.<\/p>\n

“Youths’ ire was a cluster of shanties situated behind St. Mary’s Hospital where drug peddlers congregated to dispense narcotine, including the head-popping ‘mkpuru-mmiri” the source said.<\/p>\n

“Despite repeated warnings from the local authorities and community leaders against the proliferation of narcotine, the drug dealers remained adamant, disregarding all of the admonitions.<\/p>\n
