{"id":310664,"date":"2024-02-18T07:28:02","date_gmt":"2024-02-18T06:28:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=310664"},"modified":"2024-02-18T07:28:02","modified_gmt":"2024-02-18T06:28:02","slug":"third-mainland-bridge-to-be-closed-for-24-hour-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/18\/third-mainland-bridge-to-be-closed-for-24-hour-fg\/","title":{"rendered":"Third Mainland Bridge to be closed for 24-hour \u2013 FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>She said motorists coming out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki would have full access to the bridge throughout the 24-hour closure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/18\/fg-un-agencies-and-stakeholders-collaborate-to-combat-child-marriage\/\">Federal Government<\/a> says motorists will not be able to use some sections of the busy Third Mainland Bridge for a day as vehicular activities will be halted.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, said the closure of the bridge for 24-hour will start from midnight on Sunday, February 18 to midnight on Monday, February 19.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Saturday night, she said the temporary closure will affect Iyana Oworonshoki-Lagos Island-bound traffic.<\/p>\n<p>She disclosed that the emergency measure followed the government\u2019s decision to fix an important section of the bridge undergoing comprehensive repairs.<\/p>\n<p>She said motorists coming out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki would have full access to the bridge throughout the 24-hour closure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNotification of 24-hour Closure of Iyana-Oworonshoki \u2013 Lagos Island Bound Traffic From 12.00am on Sunday, February 18th to 12.00 am on Monday, February 19, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Works wishes to inform the motoring public that the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos will not be available for 24 hours for motorists from Iyana Oworonshoki- Lagos Island bound.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTraffic resumes on Monday by 12.00 am on this bound.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, motorists coming out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki will have full access throughout the 24-hour closure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe temporary 24 hours closure of the Iyana Oworonshoki- Adeniji Adele bound traffic is to enable the ministry to carry out effective repairs on an important section of the bridge,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Kesha advised motorists to use alternative routes, obey traffic regulatory officers and be patient with the government as it continued repairs on the important infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequent upon the above, Lagos Island Bound Motorists are hereby advised to use alternative routes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She listed the alternative routes to include Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams Avenue-Eko Bridge-Apogbon-CMS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>She said motorists coming out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki would have full access to the bridge throughout the 24-hour closure.
