{"id":310909,"date":"2024-02-19T17:06:27","date_gmt":"2024-02-19T16:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=310909"},"modified":"2024-02-19T17:06:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T16:06:27","slug":"lagos-govt-lifts-ban-on-road-transport-employers-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/19\/lagos-govt-lifts-ban-on-road-transport-employers-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos govt lifts ban on road transport employers\u2019 association"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Says the suspension was in furtherance of the state\u2019s quest to foster peace and smooth working relationship among union members in its transportation sector<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Lagos State Government has lifted the ban on activities of Road Transport Employers\u2019 Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr Sola Giwa said this in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Giwa said the suspension was in furtherance of the state\u2019s quest to foster peace and smooth working relationship among union members in its transportation sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernment took the decision after careful consideration and extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, including members of the association, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/10\/nigerians-tired-of-governments-rhetoric-tuc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trade Union Congress<\/a>, (TUC) and the general public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, the Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators\u2019 Committee which was set up to manage parks and garage facilities in the state, has been dissolved with immediate effect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the decision was made in the best interest of promoting unity and peaceful co-existence, ensuring the smooth operation of transport services within the state.<\/p>\n<p>He added that it would help foster a more collaborative relationship between the government and the transport union, ultimately leading to improved services for the public.<\/p>\n<p>The special adviser urged all parties involved to adhere strictly to the terms and conditions of the settlement reached for peaceful and sustainable operations in the transportation sector.<\/p>\n<p>He also implored them to cooperate and work together toward building a better transportation system to benefit all Lagos state residents.<\/p>\n<p>The state government suspended activities of RTEAN in September, 2022 and constituted a caretaker committee to oversee affairs of the union.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Says the suspension was in furtherance of the state\u2019s quest to foster peace and smooth working relationship among union members in its transportation sector The Lagos State Government has lifted the ban on activities of Road Transport Employers\u2019 Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state.
