{"id":311139,"date":"2024-02-21T01:45:41","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T00:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=311139"},"modified":"2024-02-21T01:45:41","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T00:45:41","slug":"narto-suspends-planned-nationwide-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/21\/narto-suspends-planned-nationwide-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"NARTO suspends planned nationwide strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>NARTO had threatened to embark on strike due to the high operational costs in the industry<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has suspended its planned nationwide strike.<\/p>\n<p>NARTO National President of NARTO, Othman Yusuf, directed members to immediately resume petroleum loading activities after a meeting held in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that the meeting was attended by the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/18\/fuel-scarcity-looms-as-truck-owners-set-for-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NARTO<\/a>, oil marketers and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, (NMDPRA).<\/p>\n<p>This followed Monday\u2019s meeting with the Federal Government and stakeholders after tanker drivers suspended operations and stopped lifting of petroleum products amid harsh economic realities.<\/p>\n<p>NARTO members had threatened shutdown all over the country beginning Monday over the high cost of Automotive Gas Oil also known as diesel which is used to fuel their trucks for the movement of petroleum products across Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The association explained that the decision to withdraw its operation was due to the high operational costs in the industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NARTO had threatened to embark on strike due to the high operational costs in the industry The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has suspended its planned nationwide strike.
