{"id":311453,"date":"2024-02-23T10:44:18","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T09:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=311453"},"modified":"2024-02-23T10:44:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T09:44:18","slug":"journalists-barred-from-covering-trial-of-ex-kwara-gov-ahmed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/23\/journalists-barred-from-covering-trial-of-ex-kwara-gov-ahmed\/","title":{"rendered":"Journalists barred from covering trial of ex-Kwara Gov Ahmed"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The former governor was brought to court on Friday for trial over N10 billion of the state fund he allegedly misappropriated<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Federal High Court in Ilorin restrained journalists from entering the court premises to cover the trial of the immediate past governor of Kwara State, AbdulFatah Ahmed.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the former governor was brought to court on Friday for trial over N10 billion of the state fund he allegedly misappropriated.<\/p>\n<p>He was brought into the Federal High Court at Fare Road in Ilorin by 8:50 am for the trial.<\/p>\n<p>The police and court registrar prevented journalists from entering the court, saying they are acting on orders from above.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with newsmen outside the court premises, Wahab Oba, Chief Press Secretary to the ex-governor, lamented what he described as a secret trial of his principal, saying the trial was a political prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former governor Dr. Ahmed is supposed to be arraigned by the EFCC so we are here to witness the commencement of the trial.
