{"id":311905,"date":"2024-02-26T16:33:06","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T15:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=311905"},"modified":"2024-02-26T16:33:06","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T15:33:06","slug":"nitda-pledges-to-achieve-95-digital-literacy-by-2030","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/26\/nitda-pledges-to-achieve-95-digital-literacy-by-2030\/","title":{"rendered":"NITDA pledges to achieve 95% digital literacy by 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Inuwa highlighted that the goal aligns with President Bola Tinubu&#8217;s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing the importance of digitalization in diversification and industrialization<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with e-Health Africa, reaffirms its commitment to achieving 95% digital literacy by the end of 2030.<\/p>\n<p>NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, mentioned this during a working visit from e-Health Africa&#8217;s team led by Abdulhamid Yahaya in Abuja on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Inuwa highlighted that the goal aligns with President Bola Tinubu&#8217;s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing the importance of digitalization in diversification and industrialization.<\/p>\n<p>He underscored the synergy between the two organizations in implementing digital initiatives and emphasized NITDA&#8217;s role in executing seven out of nine strategic plans from the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy through its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (2023\u20132027).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will assess national digital literacy coverage by 70 per cent in 2027, and it will be a litmus test for the ambitious 95 per cent digital literacy coverage by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe strategic roadmap and action plan is the foundation for building a resilient tech ecosystem that will strengthen the nation\u2019s pursuit of sustainable economic development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, NITDA is actively working with development partners like GIZ, the UK government, and the Federal Ministry of Education to revise its curriculum for learning digital skills and facilitating Nigeria\u2019s digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Inuwa emphasised the importance of focusing on skills in demand to build a viable tech ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>He said the approach aims to address Nigeria\u2019s digital illiteracy issues and promote digital innovations for a robust and sustainable economy.<\/p>\n<p>The director-general said that NITDA\u2019s digital literacy centres were underutilised and solicited more investments in research and capacity building that would foster collaborations with academia, start-ups, and non-governmental organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Inuwa added that the agency was implementing the federal government\u2019s Three Million Tech Talents (3MTT) initiative, which would bridge the IT talent gap.<\/p>\n<p>He also said the agency was working to strengthen the nation\u2019s cyber security system to gain the digital trust of citizens.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the agency was engaging in some internal reforms to overcome fears associated with IT and digital services.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Mr Yahaya, team lead of e-Health Africa, a development partner, said it visited the agency because its activities aligned with NITDA\u2019s mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Yahaya assured that e-Health Africa was ready and committed to working with NITDA and other relevant organisations to enhance national development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inuwa highlighted that the goal aligns with President Bola Tinubu&#8217;s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing the importance of digitalization in diversification and industrialization The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with e-Health Africa, reaffirms its commitment to achieving 95% digital literacy by the end of 2030.
