{"id":312000,"date":"2024-02-27T09:26:21","date_gmt":"2024-02-27T08:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=312000"},"modified":"2024-02-27T09:26:21","modified_gmt":"2024-02-27T08:26:21","slug":"fg-to-shut-third-mainland-bridge-for-24-hours-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/02\/27\/fg-to-shut-third-mainland-bridge-for-24-hours-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"FG to shut Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Seek the general public&#8217;s patience and cooperation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Lagos State Government has released notification for the planned total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced this, explained that \u201cThe planned total closure, which is to allow the contractor to execute a major aspect of the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/01\/10\/federal-government-commences-7-week-repair-on-section-of-third-mainland-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">repair works<\/a> on the bridge, will affect both bounds of the carriageways from noon tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 to noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, all road users have been advised to use alternative routes already provided during the period, as the Third Mainland bridge would not be open to traffic for 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>He listed the alternative routes to include Funsho Williams Avenue to connect Carter Bridge and Eko Bridge via Ijora, among others.<\/p>\n<p>While commending the general public for their patience and cooperation, Osiyemi assured that the traffic management officials would be on ground to manage traffic and minimise inconveniences.<\/p>\n<p>He urged motorists to comply with the traffic and law enforcement that would be directing the traffic to ensure smooth movement during the period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seek the general public&#8217;s patience and cooperation The Lagos State Government has released notification for the planned total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works.
