The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Dunjuma, has assured residents to go about their legitimate businesses on Mondays without any fear of molestation from the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).<\/p>\n

CP Danjuma, while addressing officers of the Command on Monday during a Confidence Building Patrol, said the Command had put every necessary machinery in place to checkmate the activities of the separatist group, particularly on the Monday sit-at-home.<\/p>\n

He said the illegal activities of the IPOB<\/strong><\/a> and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) have grievously affected the economy of the state and South East.<\/p>\n

“This is a confidence-building patrol and operation show of force exercise across the length and breadth of the State. This continuous operation is targeted at preventing crime and putting an end to the deleterious and illegal sit-at-home order by the proscribed IPOB\/ESN which has grievously affected the economy of the State and South East region.<\/p>\n

“We have put all machinery in place to forestall any further incidence of killings and destruction of lives and properties in the state especially on the IPOB-instituted sit-at-home on Mondays.<\/p>\n

“You can now go about your various legitimate businesses on Mondays without any fear of molestation. There is no more Monday sit-at-home in Imo state.”<\/p>\n

It will be recalled that several cases of killings, kidnappings, arson and attacks on Correctional Services had been recorded in the past during the Monday sit-at-home in the state.<\/p>\n

The last was the one a police Inspector attached to the Imo-NorthSenator, Patrick Ndubueze was shot dead at Okigwe Correctional Centre during which several inmates were set free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
