{"id":314058,"date":"2024-03-11T14:02:27","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T13:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=314058"},"modified":"2024-03-11T14:02:27","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T13:02:27","slug":"kaduna-school-abduction-how-i-escaped-from-bandits-student-recounts-ordeal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/03\/11\/kaduna-school-abduction-how-i-escaped-from-bandits-student-recounts-ordeal\/","title":{"rendered":"Kaduna school abduction: How I escaped from bandits \u2013 Student recounts ordeal"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Recounting the unfortunate incident and how he escaped, he disclosed he was able to free himself while they were being moved by their abductors<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>One of the students kidnapped from Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mustapha Abubakar, has relieved the harrowing experience of the unconscionable incident.<\/p>\n<p>The student also narrated how he escaped from the clutch of his abductors.<\/p>\n<p>Within Nigeria had last Wednesday reported that 287 children, both males and females between the ages of 5 and 18, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/03\/08\/kaduna-school-abduction-well-do-everything-to-rescue-287-kidnapped-children-gov-sani\/\">were abducted from schools<\/a> in the Chikun local government area of the north west state.<\/p>\n<p>Recounting the unfortunate incident and how he escaped, he disclosed he was able to free himself while they were being moved by their abductors.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during an interview with BBC Hausa in Kaduna on Monday, the student said he secreted himself in a shrub like a snake and plotted his escape.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the bandits moved the children like a herd of cows, they walked in the bush; sometimes crawled.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that they were so thirsty that some of the girls became too weak to walk and fell down due to exhaustion but were put on motorcycles by the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the bandits ordered them to remove one of their clothes and lie down when a plane hovered above them, adding that they crossed a big river, drank the water and continued trekking.<\/p>\n<p>He said the bandits ate leaves and wild fruits as they had nothing to eat.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cWhile we were moving, I noticed a shrub that was brown in colour, like my trouser. I hid inside and crawled like a snake. I was there until it was completely silent before I came out and headed to the bush.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that he later met an old man who had difficulty walking and asked him the pathway to the main road or any close place so that he could get water to drink.<\/p>\n<p>He said amid exhaustion, he pushed on as nightfall was approaching.
