{"id":314127,"date":"2024-03-12T00:51:33","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T23:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=314127"},"modified":"2024-03-12T00:51:33","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T23:51:33","slug":"fg-announces-6000-megawatts-plan-to-improve-power-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/03\/12\/fg-announces-6000-megawatts-plan-to-improve-power-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"FG announces 6,000 megawatts plan to improve power supply"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Says a large percentage of the installed capacity is operational, but they are not available because of low or shortage in gas supply<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Federal Government on Monday said it is set to increase electricity megawatts from 4000 to 6000 within the next three to six months to improve power supply.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, made this known while meeting with the Heads of Power Agencies and other stakeholders in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201c4000 megawatts is not acceptable and we have plans to increase the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2023\/05\/23\/dangote-refinery-will-generate-12000-megawatts-electricity-cbn-gov-emefiele\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">megawatts<\/a> to a minimum of 6000 to 6500 within the next three to six months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we are looking at is having an agreement to ramp up to a minimum of 6000 megawatts within the next three to six months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that the highest we ever generated was 5,700 megawatts about three years ago, that was specifically in Nov. 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd these 5700 megawatts were also distributed. If we could achieve 5,700 at that time, I believe we still have infrastructure to generate between 6,000 and 6,500,\u2019 \u2018NAN quoted him as saying<\/p>\n<p>Adelabu said that he had visited a number of generation companies and confirmed that they had the installed capacity to generate the 6000 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, a large percentage of the installed capacity is operational, but they are not available because of low or shortage in gas supply.<\/p>\n<p>The minister added that the ministry of power and the agencies under it are working day and night to ensure that the situation is reversed within a very short time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Says a large percentage of the installed capacity is operational, but they are not available because of low or shortage in gas supply The Federal Government on Monday said it is set to increase electricity megawatts from 4000 to 6000 within the next three to six months to improve power supply.
