{"id":316613,"date":"2024-03-28T23:11:04","date_gmt":"2024-03-28T22:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=316613"},"modified":"2024-03-28T23:11:04","modified_gmt":"2024-03-28T22:11:04","slug":"dss-allows-doctor-examine-nnamdi-kanu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/03\/28\/dss-allows-doctor-examine-nnamdi-kanu\/","title":{"rendered":"DSS allows doctor examine Nnamdi Kanu"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Doctor was\u00a0personally chosen by the IPOB leader<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An independent medical doctor on Thursday examined Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB).<\/p>\n<p>Kanu\u2019s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, said the doctor was competent and was personally chosen by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/03\/19\/south-east-reps-beg-tinubu-to-discontinue-kanus-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IPOB leader<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ejimakor disclosed this after leading the legal team on a routine meeting with Kanu at the facility of the Department of State Services, (DSS).<\/p>\n<p>Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: \u201cThe jinx is finally broken. Today, a very competent doctor, personally chosen by Onyendu #MNK, met &amp; examined him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t easy, counting from last year when this should\u2019ve happened. The indomitable #MnkLegalTeam also met with MNK today. It\u2019s tough but we must not relent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Ejimakor had accused DSS operatives of refusing to allow Kanu access to an independent medical practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>During his last court outing, the IPOB leader said he is suffering from congestive cancer, adding that the DSS are not taking his health condition seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Kanu said: \u201cThe Court is entitled to change its mind. They will change their mind. My right must be respected. My right to fair hearing must be respected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have congestive heart failure.
