{"id":318732,"date":"2024-04-14T10:25:55","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T09:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=318732"},"modified":"2024-04-14T10:25:55","modified_gmt":"2024-04-14T09:25:55","slug":"ill-free-rivers-people-from-oppression-slavery-fubara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/04\/14\/ill-free-rivers-people-from-oppression-slavery-fubara\/","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019ll Free Rivers&#8217; People From Oppression, Slavery \u2013 Fubara"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The governor bemoaned the deplorable conditions of schools in the state, saying the situation can be attributed to the failings of successive administration<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State says the people of the State will become free from the shackles of oppression and bad governance under his watch.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a Thanksgiving rally organised by the SIMplified Movement at Ibaka in Okirika local government area of Rivers State, on Saturday, Fubara said the State shall be liberated from mind slavery through investment in education.<\/p>\n<p>The SIMplified Movement, a pro-Fubara group, organised the event to mark the governor\u2019s successful election and victory at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>The Rivers governor was represented by Awajinombek Abiante, the member representing, Andoni\/Opobo\/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The governor bemoaned the deplorable conditions of schools in the state, saying the situation can be attributed to the failings of successive administration.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201dA reggae artiste named Lucky Dube once sang about the imprisonment of the mind. That song mirrors our pathetic situation in Rivers State today. Few days ago, a report revealed that many schools in the state lacked teachers, and are dilapidated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThis reported decay and shortage of teachers did not happen in the last 10 months of my administration, it is an accumulation of neglect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThey decided not to build schools because they want to imprison the minds of our people, to make us blind in loyalty and unable to ask questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fubara works were underway by his government to revitalise the education sector by renovating schools and recruiting more teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is for this sake that this government has come to guarantee liberty and break the chains that have held us bound,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, a former governor of the state, Dr Peter Odili, hailed Fubara for his programmes so far, assuring him that the people are solidly behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Odili told him that he (Fubara) that is the political leader of the state, amid the protracted power tussle between him and the immediate past governor and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The governor bemoaned the deplorable conditions of schools in the state, saying the situation can be attributed to the failings of successive administration Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State says the people of the State will become free from the shackles of oppression and bad governance under his watch.
