{"id":319147,"date":"2024-04-17T11:27:20","date_gmt":"2024-04-17T10:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=319147"},"modified":"2024-04-17T11:50:09","modified_gmt":"2024-04-17T10:50:09","slug":"breaking-court-validates-apc-national-chairman-gandujes-suspension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/04\/17\/breaking-court-validates-apc-national-chairman-gandujes-suspension\/","title":{"rendered":"[UPDATED]: Court Validates APC National Chairman, Ganduje\u2019s Suspension"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The All Progressives Congress (APC) ward in Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday suspended\u00a0Ganduje.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hours after, the state working committee of APC in Kano suspended the party leaders who suspended National Ganduje.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Recall that the Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission on Tuesday filed a fresh corruption charges against Ganduje.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Kano high court has granted an ex parte order <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/04\/15\/breaking-apc-suspends-national-chairman-ganduje\/\"><strong>suspending<\/strong><\/a> Abdullahi Ganduje as national chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the party.<\/p>\n<p>Usman Na\u2019abba, the judge in his ruling on Tuesday, also restrained Ganduje from presiding over any activity of the party\u2019s National Working Committee (NWC).<\/p>\n<p>The decision stemmed from an ex parte motion filed by Ibrahim Sa\u2019ad, representing members of the executive committee of APC in Ganduje ward of Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano.<\/p>\n<p>The ward exco members were part of a group of nine ward executives who earlier announced Ganduje\u2019s suspension from the party on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The court, therefore, gave an interim injunction directing all parties involved, including the APC, its NWC, Kano State Working Committee of the party, and Ganduje himself, to maintain the status quo as of April 15, 2024, pending a full hearing on the matter set for April 30.<\/p>\n<p>Na\u2019abba further ordered the working committee of APC in the state to refrain from interfering with the decision of the Ganduje ward executives of the party, which was endorsed by a two-third majority as stipulated by the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The ward executives acted on a petition submitted by a party member from Ganduje\u2019s polling unit, urging them to investigate the accusations bribery and corruption against the APC national chairman, to protect the party\u2019s image and President Bola Tinubu\u2019s anti-corruption efforts.<\/p>\n<p>While the ward chairman and secretary reportedly failed to act on the petition filed on April 8, nine members, led by the legal adviser, went ahead to pronounce Ganduje\u2019s suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Their decision was immediately rebutted by the state working committee of the party, who accused the ward executives of anti-party activities and suspended them for six months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The All Progressives Congress (APC) ward in Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday suspended\u00a0Ganduje.
