{"id":319864,"date":"2024-04-22T05:42:15","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T04:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=319864"},"modified":"2024-04-22T05:44:29","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T04:44:29","slug":"nasarawa-police-confiscate-1473-illegal-security-items-from-militia-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/04\/22\/nasarawa-police-confiscate-1473-illegal-security-items-from-militia-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Nasarawa: Police confiscate 1,473 illegal security items from militia group"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>This operation underscores the commitment of the security agency in addressing illicit activities and maintaining peace and security in Nasarawa State<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>1,473 illegally acquired security materials have been seized from proscribed ethnic vigilante groups and other organisations in Nasarawa State.<\/p>\n<p>The police in the middle belt State disclosed that the items were recovered from a vigilante group called Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, among the items recovered by the police are 267 sets of uniforms, 102 black belts, and 189 infantry lanyards.<\/p>\n<p>This operation underscores the commitment of the security agency in addressing illicit activities and maintaining peace and security in Nasarawa State.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement on Sunday signed by the state police spokesperson, DSP Rahman Nansel, other items include five hundred and sixty-four (564) black berets, three hundred and thirty-nine (339) pieces of black\/ ten (10) white lanyards, and two (2) identification cards were also received from the above mentioned vigilante group.<\/p>\n<p>Nansel said the recovery followed compliance with Executive Order No.1 2024 banning activities of ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations by the Nasarawa state government.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads in part, \u201cThe Commissioner wishes to inform the general public that the Police Command has received two hundred and sixty-seven (267) pears of uniforms, one hundred and two (102) pieces of black belts, and one hundred and eighty-nine (189) pieces of infantry lanyards from Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe commissioner hereby calls on those who are yet to comply with the Executive Order to do so on or before the expiration of the two-week ultimatum; as the Command shall ensure that the ban is enforced to the latter.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Nasarawa state government last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/04\/16\/nasarawa-bans-ethnic-vigilante-groups\/\">announced the ban<\/a> on the activities and operations of ethnic vigilante groups in the state following the controversial circumstances surrounding the establishment of a Fulani vigilante group in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This operation underscores the commitment of the security agency in addressing illicit activities and maintaining peace and security in Nasarawa State 1,473 illegally acquired security materials have been seized from proscribed ethnic vigilante groups and other organisations in Nasarawa State.
