The family of a bride-to-be and a group of passengers successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt by killing a terrorist in Zamfara State.<\/p>\n
According to PRNigeria, the incident occurred when the bride’s family and other travelers were ambushed by bandits along the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway. The bride’s family was on a journey to purchase wedding attire and materials in Kano when armed bandits attacked them.<\/p>\n
An eyewitness, speaking to PRNigeria, described the swift and spontaneous response of the victims once the bandits targeted them. Despite one bandit managing to escape, the courageous passengers managed to capture two AK-47 rifles.<\/p>\n
Narrating how the events unfolded, the eyewitness said: \u201cA few kilometres away from the Fangal Tama checkpoint, the travellers heard gunshots echoing all around.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo their shock, they encountered two well-armed bandits on motorcycles, blocking the road and halting vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bandits immediately ordered the young woman (the bride-to-be), her father, mother, and two other relatives to exit their car.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019With guns pointed at them, the terrified family members were coerced to follow the bandits into the nearby forest.<\/p>\n
\u201cRealising the grave danger they faced in forced abduction, the passengers decided to act swiftly. They rallied together and launched an attack on one of the two bandits.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019In a fierce struggle, they managed to overpower him, resulting in his instant death. The other bandit, however, escaped, leaving behind his firearm.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe courageous group retrieved the two guns and emerged from the forest. They promptly handed the weapons over to the military at a nearby checkpoint.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
PRNigeria further gathered that amidst the courageous effort of the group, one of the passengers suffered a sudden heart attack due to the traumatic experience and later died in hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
