They demand a rollback of the recently increased electricity tariff within a mere week.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Joe Ajaero and Mr. Fetus Osifo jointly addressed the issue during the 2024 Workers\u2019 Day in Abuja, expressing deep concern over the nation&#8217;s faltering power supply, a hindrance to economic progress.<\/p>\n<p>They emphasized the critical role of energy in driving economic growth and highlighted the dire consequences of mismanagement in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The crux of our national dilemma lies in our inability to efficiently manage our energy resources for the benefit of our people,&#8221; stated the union leaders.<\/p>\n<p>While acknowledging the significance of oil and gas, they underscored that power, irrespective of its origin, remains pivotal for economic revitalization.<\/p>\n<p>The unions stressed the urgent need for collaborative efforts between the government and citizens to devise effective energy frameworks. They emphasized the long-standing issues plaguing the power sector, persisting even a decade after privatization.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The root causes are evident. When the sellers become the buyers, the cycle of challenges in the power sector perpetuates,&#8221; they remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the unions condemned the imposition of inflated tariffs on consumers, labelling estimated billing as exploitation and daylight robbery.<\/p>\n<p>The NLC and TUC called for immediate action to address these pressing concerns, advocating for a fair and
