They stated that doing so would strengthen preparedness and response against disease outbreaks and pandemics.<\/p>\n<p>This call was made on Monday in Abuja during the national dialogue on Nigeria\u2019s Pandemic Fund Grant Application organized by the Nigeria Centre for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/05\/31\/u-s-did-not-spread-monkeypox-in-nigeria-embassy\/\">Disease<\/a> Control and Prevention (NCDC).<\/p>\n<p>The Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, emphasized the federal government&#8217;s commitment to strengthening domestic efforts against disease outbreaks and building resilient health infrastructure. He highlighted the Pandemic Fund as a critical tool to facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration in effectively addressing health challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Jide Idris, the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), noted that the dialogue aimed to ensure Nigeria&#8217;s application for the pandemic fund effectively addresses national needs. He stressed that the COVID-19 pandemic underscored Nigeria&#8217;s need for a robust health security infrastructure focusing on prevention, disease surveillance, and preparedness and response
