Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State disclosed on Saturday the apprehension of two members of its security team for reportedly sexually assaulting a female student.<\/p>\n
The university, through its Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Atoyebi, stated that an internal investigative panel has been established to probe the incident.<\/p>\n
Atoyebi added that the accused individuals have been surrendered to the authorities, with a commitment to impose severe consequences if found guilty following a comprehensive inquiry.<\/p>\n
He affirmed the institution’s unwavering stance against any misconduct that could stain its reputation.<\/p>\n
The statement read in part, \u201cManagement of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo received with shock a report of alleged rape of one of our female students on Thursday, May 9, 2024, by two members of our vigilance group.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe management promptly handed over to the police, the two people alleged to have committed the crime while the university has set up its own internal panel of inquiry to investigate the allegation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe management wishes to assure all stakeholders that ACU will not tolerate any act of misconduct capable of tarnishing its enviable image.<\/p>\n
