{"id":324811,"date":"2024-05-27T11:18:30","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T10:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=324811"},"modified":"2024-05-27T11:18:30","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T10:18:30","slug":"abia-government-set-to-secure-80-megawatts-of-power-for-umuahia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/05\/27\/abia-government-set-to-secure-80-megawatts-of-power-for-umuahia\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia government set to secure 80 megawatts of power for Umuahia"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>He emphasized his administration&#8217;s dedication to promoting economic development and enhancing the quality of life for the residents<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Governor Alex Otti announced that the Abia government is negotiating with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company to acquire 80 megawatts of power for Umuahia.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Otti made this statement at an interdenominational thanksgiving service organized by the government to mark his first year in office, held at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized his administration&#8217;s dedication to promoting economic development and enhancing the quality of life for the residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are trying to solve the problem of power in Umuahia as we continue our negotiations with EEDC,\u201d Mr Otti stated. \u201cWhen we achieve maximum output, we will have not less than 80 megawatts of power willed to Umuahia that will serve the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor added, \u201cIt is doable and by the end of the year, or early in the new year, we would have achieved it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Otti said the Abia government under his watch would continue to do the right thing \u201cirrespective of whose ox is gored&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He also gave assurance that he would not be distracted by the negative comments from the opposition.<\/p>\n<p>The Abia governor also acknowledged the pivotal role of religious leaders in advocating for change in the state and their unity, prayers, and support.
