{"id":324879,"date":"2024-05-27T19:04:25","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T18:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=324879"},"modified":"2024-05-27T19:04:25","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T18:04:25","slug":"just-in-sanusis-reinstatement-was-in-best-interest-of-state-kano-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/05\/27\/just-in-sanusis-reinstatement-was-in-best-interest-of-state-kano-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: Sanusi&#8217;s Reinstatement Was In Best Interest Of State &#8212; Kano Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The state government calls for responsible journalism to avoid unnecessary tension.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>They debunked media reports of widespread violence.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Kano state government has affirmed that Muhammadu Sanusi was reinstated as the Emir of Kano in the best interest of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The state government said that the political actors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/05\/26\/breaking-protesters-flood-kano-streets-demand-reinstatement-of-deposed-emir-ado-bayero\/\"><strong>inciting violence<\/strong><\/a> over the reinstatement of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II were driven by ulterior motives.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Monday, May 27, the state commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, stated that the government was gravely concerned about reports from certain media outlets about \u201cthe grossly exaggerated violent protests\u201d that have taken place in certain parts of the state in response to the recent abrogation of the four emirates and Sunusi\u2019s reinstatement as the Emir of Kano.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read: \u201cIn view of the current tense situation in the state, the need to allay the fears of the public following the reports, reassure them of government commitment in ensuring the protection of their lives and properties and set the record straight has become necessary to clarify the inaccuracies in the media reports and present the true situation on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContrary to media reports, there have been no widespread violent protests in Kano State. While the government is aware of isolated incidents in a few areas by a handful of small children and hired miscreants and thugs, these do not in any way reflect the overall situation. These hired unpatriotic individuals were only aiming to destabilize the state for the personal gain and selfish interests of their paymasters. The great majority of Kano state\u2019s citizens have shown remarkable restraints and understanding of the sincere action of the state government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also behoves to reiterate that the decision by the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf to legally abrogate the emirates and reinstate the 14th Emir of Kano State was made after careful consideration of the best interests of the state. The move has been welcomed by a significant portion of the populace who understands and cherishes the long-term benefits of a unified emirate structure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, the administration claimed that certain political actors were using the media to propagate false information and instigate public disruption, as well as manipulating the situation to cause turmoil and unrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir actions and those of their agents are not representative of the genuine feelings of the citizens of Kano State but are instead driven by selfish ulterior motives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Kano State. The government will not renege in its responsibility to take all measures to ensure that law and order are upheld and the rights of the citizens are protected,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The government urged the general public to disregard \u201cthe sensational and grossly exaggerated media reports and support the efforts of the government to create a more cohesive and unified state while calling on the media to exercise responsible journalism and verify facts before publishing any report that has the potential to cause unnecessary tension.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKano State government under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to the progress and development of the state and call on all citizens to join hands in this regard,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The state government calls for responsible journalism to avoid unnecessary tension.
