{"id":326797,"date":"2024-06-11T15:50:43","date_gmt":"2024-06-11T14:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=326797"},"modified":"2024-06-11T15:50:43","modified_gmt":"2024-06-11T14:50:43","slug":"kingibe-cries-out-over-marginalization-in-fct-governance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/11\/kingibe-cries-out-over-marginalization-in-fct-governance\/","title":{"rendered":"Kingibe cries out over marginalization in FCT governance"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>She cited sections 10 and 11, asserting that as the highest elected official in the FCT, she is nevertheless excluded from critical state affairs<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has once again voiced her concerns about being marginalized in the Senate Committee on matters affecting her constituency.<\/p>\n<p>Kingibe raised this issue during the Plenary on Tuesday, while discussing the 2024 supplementary budget of N98.5 billion for the FCT.<\/p>\n<p>She cited sections 10 and 11, asserting that as the highest elected official in the FCT, she is nevertheless excluded from critical state affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Kindibe said, \u201cMr President, I am the highest elected person in the FCT with over four million people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not usually carried along in the issues that pertain to the FCT, especially the matters of budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FCT supplementary budget is presented today but I am not even aware of the whole procedure, I was not invited to any meeting where the budget was discussed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kingibe was, however, interrupted by the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, when he requested for her the motion.<\/p>\n<p>Akpabio told her that the order she moved demanded that she present a motion and present it to the House.<\/p>\n<p>The senators agreed that Kingibe would present the complaint in a motion tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>President Bola Tinubu had last week written to the Senate seeking a supplementary bill of N98.5bn for the Federal Capital Territory Administration.<\/p>\n<p>The N98.5bn is in addition to the N1.2tn budget passed in March by the National Assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>She cited sections 10 and 11, asserting that as the highest elected official in the FCT, she is nevertheless excluded from critical state affairs Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has once again voiced her concerns about being marginalized in the Senate Committee on matters affecting her constituency.
