{"id":327264,"date":"2024-06-15T09:19:51","date_gmt":"2024-06-15T08:19:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=327264"},"modified":"2024-06-15T09:19:51","modified_gmt":"2024-06-15T08:19:51","slug":"breaking-police-reject-pscs-recruitment-list-seek-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/15\/breaking-police-reject-pscs-recruitment-list-seek-review\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Police reject PSC\u2019s recruitment list, seek review"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>This follows a deluge of complaints from unsuccessful candidates and stakeholders over the disappearance of names of those who were screened and successful up to the final stage<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>The list also contained names of candidates who had failed either the Computer Based Test or the physical screening, as well as those disqualified after being found medically unfit<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Nigeria Police Force has rejected the Police Service Commission&#8217;s recruitment list over alleged irregularities and corruption that allegedly marred the list of successful candidates in the ongoing 2022\/23 police constables recruitment.<\/p>\n<p>This follows a deluge of complaints from unsuccessful candidates and stakeholders over the disappearance of names of those who were screened and successful up to the final stage.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement on Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that scrutiny of the published list revealed several anomalies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral names of persons purported to be names of successful candidates are those who did not even apply and therefore did not take part in the recruitment exercise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Adejobi added that the list also contained names of candidates who had failed either the Computer Based Test or the physical screening, as well as those disqualified after being found medically unfit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost worrisome is the allegation of financial dealings and corrupt practices leading to the outcome where unqualified and untrainable individuals have been shortlisted,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The police spokesman revealed that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, had on June 10 written to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission objecting to the list and citing the irregularities discovered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reaction of the IGP was without prejudice to the power of the commission to recruit for the police as ruled by the Supreme court but this power does not include the power to recruit unqualified and untrained individuals for the police,\u201d Adejobi stated.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cNoting that it is the police that bears the brunt of recruitment of unqualified individuals and not the PSC. The same people who recruited anyhow for the police today will turn round to accuse the police tomorrow of inefficiency when their recruits start messing up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adejobi disclosed that the police have dissociated themselves from the published list and called for a transparent and credible review of the process to recruit \u201cqualified, competent, trainable and productive hands into the Nigeria Police Force, in line with the vision of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s led administration on police reform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further assured all that the police are committed to ensuring the process is thoroughly reviewed to be fruitful and successful for the betterment of the force and the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This
