{"id":327271,"date":"2024-06-15T09:52:59","date_gmt":"2024-06-15T08:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=327271"},"modified":"2024-06-15T09:52:59","modified_gmt":"2024-06-15T08:52:59","slug":"15-injured-as-brt-truck-commercial-bus-collide-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/15\/15-injured-as-brt-truck-commercial-bus-collide-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"15 injured as BRT, truck, commercial bus collide in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>He disclosed that the accident was caused by loss of control on the part of an articulated truck<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A multiple road accident in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/15\/osun-govt-reactivates-emergency-measures-amid-lagos-cholera-outbreak\/\">Lagos State<\/a> has left no fewer than fifteen people with varying degrees of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The mishap happened on Friday morning at Ketu, under Ojota interchange Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>The permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The accident was reported via the state\u2019s toll-free emergency numbers, 767 and 112, Oke-Osanyintolu said in a statement on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He added that LASEMA\u2019s response team from the Command and Control Centre, C3, Alausa, swiftly swung to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that the accident was caused by loss of control on the part of an articulated truck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey arrived at the scene of the multiple collision, which involved three vehicles under the Ojota Interchange Bridge, at 11:40 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon arrival, it was discovered that the accident involved a BRT bus, with registration number EXY-167XY, an articulated truck, with an unknown registration number and an 18-seater commercial bus, with registration number JJJ-439YG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe articulated truck was laden with a 40-feet container.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurther investigations revealed that the articulated truck, while heading inward Ketu, suddenly lost control of motion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the truck skidded off its lane and collided with the BRT bus, which was headed toward Ojota from the opposite direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BRT subsequently skidded off its lane into the service lane and collided with the yellow commercial bus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFifteen people were injured. No critical injuries were sustained and fatalities were recorded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BRT bus suffered significant damage to the front and rear ends, and the tractor head of the truck was also damaged,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The LASEMA official said the agency\u2019s pre-hospital care team attended to four at the accident scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe articulated truck was recovered off the road and towed to LASTMA yard at Oshodi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BRT bus was recovered off the road to the BRT yard in Ojota, while the yellow commercial bus was driven off by its owner,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He said the road had been set free for vehicular activities<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He disclosed that the accident was caused by loss of control on the part of an articulated truck A multiple road accident in Lagos State has left no fewer than fifteen people with varying degrees of injuries.
