{"id":327582,"date":"2024-06-18T16:15:14","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=327582"},"modified":"2024-06-18T16:15:14","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:15:14","slug":"kogi-bans-traditional-processions-in-kotonkarfe-environs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/18\/kogi-bans-traditional-processions-in-kotonkarfe-environs\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogi bans traditional processions in Kotonkarfe, environs"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Says ban was aimed at maintaining peace in Koton Karfe and its environs in Kogi Local Government Area<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Kogi Government has banned traditional processions in Kotonkarfe in Kogi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state for security reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner for Information, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, announced the ban in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lokoja.<\/p>\n<p>Fanwo said that security reports indicated that all was not well in Kotonkarfe community, following alleged plans by some people to foment trouble in the area.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the ban was aimed at maintaining peace in Koton Karfe and its environs in Kogi Local Government Area (LGA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proactive ban is aimed at curbing plans by some elements in the area to disturb the peace of the ancient town.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGov. Usman Ododo has reiterated his administration\u2019s commitment to peaceful coexistence among all Kotonkarfe people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will always leave his doors open to listen to complaints and grievances rather than resort to violence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner urged all concerned to strictly abide by the ban, warning that violators would be treated as enemies of peace and the state.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the decision by the government was aimed at protecting the rights of the Koton Karfe people and all citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Fanwo urged law enforcement agents to enforce the ban in accordance with the laws of the land.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Kotonkarfe people should be committed to peace and harmony, as government is prepared to protect them from violence.<\/p>\n<p>The former Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Jan. 8, removed Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah-Koto as the Ohimege-Igu Koton-Karfe.<\/p>\n<p>Isah-Koto was also the Chairman, Lokoja\/ Kogi Local Government Area traditional council.<\/p>\n<p>Isah-Koto, who was removed and deposed to Rijau Local Government Area of Niger, was replaced with Alhaji Saidu Akawu-Salihu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Says ban was aimed at maintaining peace in Koton Karfe and its environs in Kogi Local Government Area The Kogi Government has banned traditional processions in Kotonkarfe in Kogi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state for security reasons.
