{"id":329621,"date":"2024-07-04T12:16:30","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T11:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=329621"},"modified":"2024-07-04T12:16:30","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T11:16:30","slug":"hijrah-oyo-declares-july-8-public-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/07\/04\/hijrah-oyo-declares-july-8-public-holiday\/","title":{"rendered":"Hijrah: Oyo declares July 8 public holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Calls for unity<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oyo State government has declared Monday, July 8, 2024 as a work-free day to commemorate and celebrate the new Islamic calendar year, Hijrah 1446AH.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner for information, Prince Dotun Oyelade who announced this on Thursday, said that the state government recognised the importance of the Hijrah in the lives of Muslim brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner emphasised that Hijrah marks the migration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD, and was considered a significant event in Islamic history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a gesture of respect and solidarity with the Muslim community, we have declared Monday 8th July 2024 a work-free day in the state\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged all residents to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in the state and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>It further called on everyone to use the opportunity to reflect on the teachings of the Hijrah, pray for the well-being of \u201cOur state and our nation, and come together in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hijrah is a time for reflection, prayer, and community spirit.
