{"id":331074,"date":"2024-07-15T10:43:41","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T09:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=331074"},"modified":"2024-07-15T10:43:41","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T09:43:41","slug":"why-i-invest-massively-in-nigeria-dangote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/07\/15\/why-i-invest-massively-in-nigeria-dangote\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I invest massively in Nigeria \u2013 Dangote"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>He said it made him feel better and fulfilled that he was creating job opportunities for thousands of Nigerians<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dangote Refinery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/07\/15\/nnpcl-no-longer-owns-20-stake-in-my-refinery-dangote\/\">Aliko Dangote<\/a>, has revealed why he continues to site big and numerous businesses in Nigeria despite the harsh operating environment.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Sunday, Dangote stated that his decision to invest massively in Nigeria is spurred by patriotism and love for the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said it made him feel better and fulfilled that he was creating job opportunities for thousands of Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>He also said his wish was to be remembered for the value he added to Nigeria\u2019s economic development after he was gone.<\/p>\n<p>On what he was planning to do next considering that the refinery, which is the largest single train edifice in the world, has been successfully delivered, Dangote said government\u2019s policies remain the key to what he will invest in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolicy inconsistencies could affect what we do. We have gas-related projects in our plans, but this depends on how government policies favour our operations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cManufacturers create jobs, they invest their money to help the economy, but when you import, you are encouraging poverty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best way is to build factories and produce what you import. The PIA is saying that once there is enough capacity, there is no reason to import.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Africa today, only Algeria and Libya have the capacity to feed their local markets.
