{"id":331462,"date":"2024-07-18T06:30:12","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T05:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=331462"},"modified":"2024-07-18T06:30:12","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T05:30:12","slug":"petrol-price-increase-to-n750-17-per-litre-in-june-nbs-reveals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/07\/18\/petrol-price-increase-to-n750-17-per-litre-in-june-nbs-reveals\/","title":{"rendered":"Petrol price increase to N750.17 per litre in June, NBS reveals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that the average retail price for a liter of petrol increased to N750.17 in June &#8211; up from the N545.83 recorded in the same month last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report tagged \u2018Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch (June 2024)\u2019 which was released on Wednesday, the development signifies<span class=\"acssf62a8\"> a 37.44 percent year-on-year increase<\/span><span class=\"acssf62a8\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"acssf62a8\">\u201cLikewise, comparing the average price value with the previous month (.i.e. May 2024), the average retail price decreased by 2.53% from N769.62,\u201d the report reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/27\/65-of-nigerians-rely-on-agriculture-nbs\/\">NBS<\/a> on the state profile analysis said<span class=\"acssf62a8\">\u00a0Benue had the highest average retail price for petrol at N854.55. Jigawa and Rivers came next with N847 and N810, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the other side, Lagos, Kwara, and Ogun States had the lowest average retail prices for Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol), at N626.94, N650.00, and N670.63 respectively,\u201d NBS said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLastly, on the Zonal profile, the South-South Zone had the highest average retail price of\u00a0N794.64, while the South-West Zone had the lowest price of N696.42.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On July 5, Mele Kyari, group chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/07\/15\/nnpcl-no-longer-owns-20-stake-in-my-refinery-dangote\/\">(NNPC)<\/a> Limited, said the evacuation of petrol to border states reduced by seven million in two months.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"acssf62a8\">Kyari said the evacuation of petrol dropped from 32 million litres per day to about 25 million litres amid customs\u2019 anti-smuggling operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Petrol queues recently resurfaced in parts of Lagos and Abuja due to a scarcity of the commodity.
