{"id":334210,"date":"2024-08-09T09:21:22","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T08:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=334210"},"modified":"2024-08-09T09:21:22","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T08:21:22","slug":"alleged-fraud-kano-govt-files-fresh-charge-against-ganduje-3-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/09\/alleged-fraud-kano-govt-files-fresh-charge-against-ganduje-3-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Alleged fraud: Kano Govt files fresh charge against Ganduje, 3 others"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Garo, Lamin Sani, and Muhammad Takai were charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, making false statements or returns, and criminal misappropriation<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Kano State Government has filed a fresh fraud charge against the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, his Commissioner for Local Government, Murtala Garo, and two others.<\/p>\n<p>According to the charge sheet, Garo, Lamin Sani, and Muhammad Takai were charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, making false statements or returns, and criminal misappropriation.<\/p>\n<p>The state accused them of mismanaging the 44 Local Government\u2019s statutory allocations remitted to the State Joint Local Governments account from the Federation account.<\/p>\n<p>They were also accused of criminally diverting N57.4 billion through several personal accounts of Local Government\u2019s cashiers and other personal and corporate accounts, the charge sheet said.<\/p>\n<p>The state government also accused them of transferring the funds into dollars for their personal benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The state further alleged that they acquired a service apartment on Murtala Muhammad Way, a commercial apartment at Akoya Oxygen (x20868 Dubai) in Tigerwood, and plot 2201 Floor 22 Damac Height, Marsa Dubai Marina, a multibillion-dollar hotel in Jabi, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Others are filling stations on Gwarzo Road, Kano, and the Eastern Bypass, Kano.<\/p>\n<p>In the charge sheet, the state said it would call 143 witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>No date has been fixed for the matter.<\/p>\n<p>On April 4, the Kano government filed a suit against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/09\/ganduje-politicians-must-ensure-judiciarys-freedom-from-external-influence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ganduje<\/a>, his wife, Hafsat Umar, and six others before the Kano High Court.
