{"id":334458,"date":"2024-08-11T10:01:04","date_gmt":"2024-08-11T09:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=334458"},"modified":"2024-08-11T10:01:04","modified_gmt":"2024-08-11T09:01:04","slug":"dont-be-misled-nysc-clarifies-position-on-n70k-minimum-wage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/11\/dont-be-misled-nysc-clarifies-position-on-n70k-minimum-wage\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Don&#8217;t be misled&#8217; &#8212; NYSC clarifies position on N70K minimum wage"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The NYSC said there are no directives yet on N70,000 minimum wage for corps members<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The scheme warned bloggers and social media influencers against unauthorized statements.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The National Youth Service Corps has refuted a false social media claim that it is upgrading corps members&#8217; bank accounts to reflect the new national minimum wage of N70,000.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme said no official instruction has been given to implement this change or increase corps members&#8217; allowances.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/08\/nysc-announces-orientation-commencement-date-for-batch-b-stream-ii-corps\/\"><strong>NYSC<\/strong><\/a> has described the report as completely untrue and misleading.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, issued a statement on Saturday to clarify the situation and reassure corps members.<\/p>\n<p>The NYSC, therefore, advised corps members to desist from allowing mischief makers who are set to mislead Nigerians to continue to play on their intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read, \u201cThe attention of National Youth Service Corps management has been drawn to misleading information circulating in the media regarding payment of N70,000 minimum wage to corps members and the directive to upgrade their accounts. This is an absolute falsehood which is far from the truth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCorps members, parents and members of the public should note that no directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wages matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is, therefore, impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on such. Corps members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NYSC, by this release therefore admonishes corps members to desist from allowing mischief makers who are set to mislead Nigerians from continuing to play on their intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBloggers and social media influencers are warned to stop issuing statements that concern the management of National Youth Service Corps without authorisation.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NYSC said there are no directives yet on N70,000 minimum wage for corps members The scheme warned bloggers and social media influencers against unauthorized statements.
