{"id":335808,"date":"2024-08-22T09:27:54","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T08:27:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=335808"},"modified":"2024-08-22T09:27:54","modified_gmt":"2024-08-22T08:27:54","slug":"its-unconstitutional-benue-apc-kicks-against-dissolution-of-swc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/22\/its-unconstitutional-benue-apc-kicks-against-dissolution-of-swc\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;It&#8217;s unconstitutional&#8217; &#8212; Benue APC kicks against dissolution of SWC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Ihomum asserted that the party\u2019s national leadership is not exempt from adhering to a competent court\u2019s ruling and urged members to disregard the purported dissolution.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>The party\u2019s Local Government Primary Election, scheduled for August 24, will proceed as planned, despite the controversy.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Benue state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says the purported dissolution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/19\/pdp-expels-former-edo-deputy-governor-shaibu-two-others-for-anti-party-activities\/\"><strong>State Working Committee (SWC)<\/strong><\/a> of the party is illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement on Thursday by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Daniel Ihomum.<\/p>\n<p>Ihomum said, \u201cWe are constrained to react to a purported dissolution of the Benue State Working Committee by the National Working Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday 21 August, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur esteemed members of the APC in Benue State are advised to disregard this purported dissolution because same is illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional as there is a subsisting court order issued by Honourable Justice T.A Igoche of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi, restraining the National Working Committee or any other organ of the All Progressives Congress from removing, changing, replacing, dissolving or terminating the tenure of the Benue State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) until the expiration of its four-year tenure of office pending the determination of the motion on Notice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional of the National Working Committee to purportedly remove, dissolve or replace a democratically elected State Working Committee whose tenure is subsisting as in this case, more also where there is a valid court order which was duly served on the National Working Committee. It will not stand!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge all our party members and party faithful to disregard the said purported dissolution as neither the NWC nor the NEC is immune from obeying the order of a competent court of law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the party are reminded that the Local Government Primary Election scheduled for Saturday, 24th August, will go ahead as planned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ihomum asserted that the party\u2019s national leadership is not exempt from adhering to a competent court\u2019s ruling and urged members to disregard the purported dissolution.
