{"id":336185,"date":"2024-08-25T17:41:22","date_gmt":"2024-08-25T16:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=336185"},"modified":"2024-08-25T17:41:22","modified_gmt":"2024-08-25T16:41:22","slug":"tinubu-should-explain-why-oando-got-swift-approval-in-agip-eni-purchase-atiku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/25\/tinubu-should-explain-why-oando-got-swift-approval-in-agip-eni-purchase-atiku\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu should explain why Oando got swift approval in AGIP\/ENI purchase \u2013 Atiku"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Atiku said democracy in Nigeria has become the government that only benefits Tinubu and his family<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has asked the Nigerian government to tell the public why the acquisition of onshore assets of AGIP and ENI by Oando Plc was given priority and expedited while other similar deals suffer delay.<\/p>\n<p>This is even as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/23\/ovh-deal-nnpc-reacts-to-atikus-allegations-of-plan-by-tinubu-to-mortgage-nigerias-future\/\">Atiku<\/a> accused the government of giving Oando, owned by President Bola Tinubu\u2019s nephew, undue advantage in the oil and gas sector to the expense of more competent investors.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that while transactions such as the Shell\/Renaissance deal and the Mobil\/Seplat continue to suffer delays, Tinubu has used his position to facilitate the acceleration of the OVH dealm<\/p>\n<p>The former Vice President made this known in a release signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku, who said Tinubu\u2019s administration is implementing a sham subsidy regime, flayed the House of Representatives for looking the other way while the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, essentially \u201cmortgage the country\u2019s national oil assets to vested interests\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said democracy in Nigeria has become the government that only benefits Tinubu and his family.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku continued, \u201cWithin just eight months, the Nigerian Upstream Production Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, approved a deal which saw the divestment of ENI\/AGIP onshore assets to Oando. Within that same period, Nigeria controversially withdrew all litigation against Shell\/ENI in the OPL 245 scandal in what has been described as a quid pro quo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIdeally, democracy ought to be the government of the people, for the people, and by the people. But democracy in Nigeria has become the government of Tinubu, by Tinubu, and for Tinubu and his family members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Atiku added, \u201cIn July 2023, the House of Representatives, following the adoption of a motion moved by Miriam Onuoha directed NNPC Ltd to suspend the acquisition of OVH assets pending an investigation by its committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe House ad-hoc committee requested the NNPC Ltd to furnish it with information about registration documents\/history from CAC for OVH, Nueoil, and NNPC Retail Limited (NRL), Board Resolution of NNPC Ltd on purchase of OVH, Audited Financial Statement and Management Accounts from 2015 to date of OVH, Nueoil, NRL and NNPC Ltd and the payroll from 2015 to date for NRL and OVH; Board Resolution of NRL\/CHQ for movement of head office to Lagos and evidence of Tax Payments for NRL and OVH from 2015 to date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NNPC ignored all these and went ahead to transfer its ownership and properties in its retail arm
