{"id":337249,"date":"2024-09-03T11:09:29","date_gmt":"2024-09-03T10:09:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=337249"},"modified":"2024-09-03T12:47:38","modified_gmt":"2024-09-03T11:47:38","slug":"just-in-dangote-refinery-to-supply-25m-litres-of-petrol-in-september-nmdpra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/03\/just-in-dangote-refinery-to-supply-25m-litres-of-petrol-in-september-nmdpra\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: Dangote Refinery To Supply 25m Litres Of Petrol In September &#8212; NMDPRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>This is comes months after its initial announcement to begin production of the commodity, also known as premium motor spirits (PMS).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>On May 18, Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), had said the refinery would begin to produce petrol from June, adding that Nigeria would not have to import the product again<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Dangote oil refinery will supply a total of 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market in September.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority disclosed on Tuesday that this will rise to 30 million litres from September.<\/p>\n<p>In a short statement, the NMDPRA said it met with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to agree on local crude supply to the refinery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the NMDPRA headquarters in Abuja, NNPCL reached an agreement to commence crude oil sale and supply to Dangote Refinery in local currency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe refinery is now poised to supply an initial 25 million litres of PMS into the domestic market this September. And will subsequently increase this amount to 30 million litres daily from October 2024,\u201d the NMDPRA said on its X.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/03\/breaking-aliko-dangote-formally-confirms-petrol-rollout\/\"><strong>formally announced<\/strong><\/a> that the 650,000-capacity oil refinery in Lagos has commenced petrol production.<\/p>\n<p>In a live broadcast on Tuesday, Dangote said the supply of petrol into Nigeria would change the country\u2019s energy landscape.<\/p>\n<p>While appreciating President Bola Tinubu for approving the sale of crude in naira to local refineries, Dangote said many did not believe that the $20bn refinery could start petrol production.<\/p>\n<p>He said the capacity would meet local demands and the demands of sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<p>It was learnt that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is being considered as the only distributor of the product.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is comes months after its initial announcement to begin production of the commodity, also known as premium motor spirits (PMS).
