Sulaiman Gumi emphasizes the need for stricter compliance to enhance safety standards and address theft and malpractices<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations has attributed the persistence of vandalism, sabotage, and other malpractices in Nigeria&#8217;s power sector to regulatory agencies&#8217; failure to enforce established rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, Chairman of the Committee, made this assertion during a briefing on Tuesday at the National Assembly to present the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry Safety Conference.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed concern that despite the federal government\u2019s efforts to address safety issues in the power sector, problems such as vandalism, theft, the installation of electricity by unlicensed electrical installers, and the production, marketing, and use of sub-standard electrical materials continue to persist.<\/p>\n<p>Gumi highlighted the need for increased compliance and enforcement of laws and policies to enhance safety standards and regulations in the sector.
