{"id":338509,"date":"2024-09-13T09:18:22","date_gmt":"2024-09-13T08:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=338509"},"modified":"2024-09-13T09:18:22","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T08:18:22","slug":"refinery-imbroglio-why-were-not-buying-petrol-from-dangote-marketers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/13\/refinery-imbroglio-why-were-not-buying-petrol-from-dangote-marketers\/","title":{"rendered":"Refinery imbroglio: Why we&#8217;re not buying petrol from Dangote \u2013 Marketers"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>According to him, petroleum marketers in Nigeria are willing to patronise Dangote Refinery Petrol based on a fair and reasonable price<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s petroleum marketers have called on Dangote Refinery to be upfront and open to Nigerians about the pricing of its Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) to Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Dangote had on Thursday disclosed that marketers in the country are not patronising its refinery and it may be forced to export 97 percent of the Premium Motor Spirit it produces.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, who made the disclosure, stated that local marketers were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/13\/refinery-dangote-laments-marketers-boycott-to-export-97-of-its-petrol\/\">boycotting Dangote Refinery petrol<\/a> for imported ones despite its lower prices.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the development, the President of the Products Retail Outlets Owners Association, Billy Gillis-Harry and the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN Abubakar Maigandi, dismissed Edwin claims.<\/p>\n<p>Gillis-Harry in an interview with DAILY POST, said that marketers are not privy to the price of Dangote Refinery\u2019s petrol because the company has not made it public.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, petroleum marketers in Nigeria are willing to patronise Dangote Refinery Petrol based on a fair and reasonable price.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy don\u2019t Dangote Refinery give us a price list of what his price is? They cannot tell the price of Dangote Refinery\u2019s PMS which they claim is cheaper than imported petrol. What is the price of DRL petrol?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow come they are saying marketers are boycotting their petrol? We don\u2019t know how much Dangote is selling its petrol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are willing to partner with him but we partner on the basis that we would be able to sell with a human face\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Madigan said Edwin&#8217;s claim that that local marketers are boycotting Dangote Refinery\u2019s petrol is false.<\/p>\n<p>He also echoed the assertion of Gillis-Harry that oil marketers were yet to know the price of Dangote Refinery\u2019s petrol.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, petroleum marketers are ready to buy Dangote Refinery petrol provided the price is not more than the price they are currently buying<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know the price of Dangote Refinery\u2019s Petrol.
