{"id":339688,"date":"2024-09-24T13:16:01","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T12:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=339688"},"modified":"2024-09-24T13:16:01","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T12:16:01","slug":"osun-reduces-workdays-for-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/24\/osun-reduces-workdays-for-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Osun reduces workdays for workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>The decision aligns with Adeleke\u2019s commitment to the well-being of workers and is a response to the current economic situation in the country<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has approved a reduction in the number of days public servants are required to work each week, in a bid to lessen their transportation costs.<\/p>\n<p>The governor also announced an extension of palliative payments to public servants for the next two months.<\/p>\n<p>A statement issued by the governor\u2019s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday, indicated that the approval was outlined in a circular from the Office of the Head of Service.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added that this decision aligns with Adeleke\u2019s commitment to the well-being of workers and is a response to the current economic situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read, \u201cBy this circular, therefore, and until another directive is given, the working day schedules for public servants in the state have been approved as follows:<br \/>\n\u201cPublic servants on GL.01 to GL.10 \u2013 three days a week; public servants on GL.12 to GL.17 \u2013 four days a week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The circular further noted that these arrangements exclude those on essential duties, such as medical personnel, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is also important to note that the arrangement regarding which days each public servant in the above categories will work shall be organised by the accounting officers in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement added, \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/05\/adeleke-sends-procurement-bill-to-state-legislature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">governor<\/a> has also graciously approved the continuation of palliative payments to public servants in the state for the next two months, pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll accounting officers of Ministries, Departments, and government agencies, including Local Governments, have been directed to comply.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The decision aligns with Adeleke\u2019s commitment to the well-being of workers and is a response to the current economic situation in the country The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has approved a reduction in the number of days public servants are required to work each week, in a bid to lessen their transportation costs.
