{"id":339847,"date":"2024-09-25T22:28:30","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T21:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=339847"},"modified":"2024-09-25T22:28:30","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T21:28:30","slug":"breaking-fg-increases-corps-members-monthly-allowance-to-n77000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/09\/25\/breaking-fg-increases-corps-members-monthly-allowance-to-n77000\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: FG increases corps members monthly allowance to N77,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Before the increase, corps members were paid a monthly allowance of N33,000 following an upward review of minimum wage to N30,000 in 2019<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Federal Government has approved the increase of corps members\u2019 monthly allowance to N77,000 with effect from July 2024.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement signed by the NYSC\u2019s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, on Wednesday, the approval was contained in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, dated September 25 2024 and signed by the Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta, in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Before the increase, corps members were paid a monthly allowance of N33,000 following an upward review of minimum wage to N30,000 in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that President Bola Tinubu signed the new Minimum Wage Bill into law on July 29, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The law stipulated the sum of N70,000 as minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>In her statement, Embu stated that the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Yusha\u2019u Ahmed, had paid an advocacy visit to the Chairman where he solicited for a robust welfare package for corps members.<\/p>\n<p>The DG thanked the government for the gesture, noting that it will not only bring succour to the corpers but also boost their morale to do more in service to the nation.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads \u201cThe Federal Government has approved the increase of corps members\u2019 monthly allowance to N77,000 with effect from July 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
