{"id":340597,"date":"2024-10-03T00:03:58","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T23:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=340597"},"modified":"2024-10-03T00:03:58","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T23:03:58","slug":"fg-removes-vat-on-diesel-cooking-gas-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/03\/fg-removes-vat-on-diesel-cooking-gas-others\/","title":{"rendered":"FG removes VAT on diesel, cooking gas, others"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>Reiterate determination towards ensuring a boost in the nation\u2019s upstream and downstream sector<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Federal Government has introduced tax exemptions on key energy products and infrastructure as well as fiscal incentives for the upstream and downstream oil and gas sector.<\/p>\n<p>The move, the government said, was in \u201cits avowed determination towards ensuring a boost in the nation\u2019s upstream and downstream sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Manga, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun unveiled two major fiscal incentives on Tuesday \u201caimed at revitalising Nigeria\u2019s oil and gas sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement listed the fiscal incentives described as \u201cgroundbreaking concessions aimed at revitalising the industry\u201d, to include \u2018Value Added Tax Modification Order 2024\u2019 and \u2018Notice of Tax Incentives for Deep Offshore Oil and Gas Production, in accordance with the Oil and Gas Companies (Tax Incentives, Exemption, Remission, etc.) Order 2024.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe VAT Modification Order 2024 introduces exemptions on a range of key energy products and infrastructure, including Diesel, Feed Gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Electric Vehicles, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure, and Clean Cooking Equipment,\u201d the statement read partly.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the \u201cmeasures are designed to lower the cost of living, bolster energy security, and accelerate Nigeria\u2019s transition to cleaner energy sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, the Notice of Tax Incentives for Deep Offshore Oil &amp; Gas Production provides new tax reliefs for deep offshore projects. This initiative is aimed at positioning Nigeria\u2019s deep offshore basin as a premier destination for global oil and gas investments,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>These reforms, the statement mentioned, \u201care part of a broader series of investment-driven policy initiatives championed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in line with Policy Directives 40-42.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey reflect the administration\u2019s strong commitment to fostering sustainable growth in the energy sector and enhancing Nigeria\u2019s global competitiveness in oil and gas production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith these bold initiatives, Nigeria is firmly on track to reclaim its position as a leader in the global oil and gas market.
