The people of Rivers State must always be protected, no matter the circumstances,&#8221; Osigwe added.<\/p>\n<p>The NBA expressed concern over the growing controversies surrounding the scheduled local government elections in Rivers State, specifically noting the statement from the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Grace Iringe-Koko.<\/p>\n<p>The statement indicated that the police would not provide security during the upcoming elections, scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024, due to a court order.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the NBA cited disturbing reports alleging that some police officers had attempted to steal election materials from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) headquarters in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/12\/27\/nba-demands-disclosure-of-identity-of-police-officer-who-killed-lagos-lawyer\/\">NBA<\/a> agreed with a statement released by local NBA branches, stressing that it is troubling for the police to declare their refusal to provide security in compliance with a court order.
