{"id":341243,"date":"2024-10-08T22:38:02","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T21:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=341243"},"modified":"2024-10-08T22:38:02","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T21:38:02","slug":"nenadi-usman-led-lp-to-appeal-abures-court-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/08\/nenadi-usman-led-lp-to-appeal-abures-court-victory\/","title":{"rendered":"Nenadi Usman led LP to appeal Abure\u2019s court victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>In February, Oluchi Oparah, national treasurer of the party, accused Abure of misappropriating N3.5 billion.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>In April 2023, the FCT high court issued an order restraining Abure from parading himself as the national chair of the LP.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The caretaker committee of the Labour Party, led by Nenadi Usman, has announced plans to contest the court decision that recognized Julius Abure as the national chairman.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, federal high court judge Emeka Nwite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/08\/breaking-court-affirms-abure-as-lp-national-chairman-orders-inec-to-recognise-him\/\"><strong>confirmed<\/strong><\/a> the legitimacy of the Abure-led administration and the Nnewi convention from March 2024 that elected the party officials.<\/p>\n<p>Nwite directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to acknowledge Abure as the rightful chair of the party.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the ruling, Usman mentioned that the issue arose before the caretaker committee was established, which subsequently became part of the case after careful consideration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis evening, I met with His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, His Excellency Governor Alex Otti, and Senator Darlington Nwokocha (Secretary, LP Caretaker Committee),\u201d Usman said in a terse statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe deliberated on the judgment passed today. The case actually preceded the formation of the Caretaker Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, after being briefed, the Caretaker Committee decided to join the case.
