{"id":341344,"date":"2024-10-09T13:04:46","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T12:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=341344"},"modified":"2024-10-09T13:05:58","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T12:05:58","slug":"binance-executives-bail-ruling-stalled-due-to-judges-absence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/09\/binance-executives-bail-ruling-stalled-due-to-judges-absence\/","title":{"rendered":"Binance executive&#8217;s bail ruling stalled due to judge&#8217;s absence"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>On September 2, the EFCC objected to the health claims made by the Binance executive after Iheanacho filed a counter affidavit to the bail application.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>Mordi had informed the court of another bail application \u2014 which was filed on August 28 \u2014 seeking his client\u2019s release on medical grounds.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The federal high court in Abuja postponed ruling on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/06\/22\/binance-executive-facing-lawful-trial-access-to-quality-healthcare-ensured-fg\/\"><strong>Tigran Gambaryan&#8217;s bail application<\/strong> <\/a>due to the judge&#8217;s absence at a National Judicial Institute seminar.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling, initially scheduled for delivery, has been rescheduled for Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Gambaryan, a Binance Holdings Limited executive, and Binance face money laundering allegations filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in April.<\/p>\n<p>The court denied Gambaryan&#8217;s first bail request on May 17, after which he collapsed in court due to &#8220;ill-health.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Concerns about Gambaryan&#8217;s deteriorating health have been raised by his family and legal team, warning of potential fatal consequences if his health issues persist.<\/p>\n<p>According to his wife, Yuki, Gambaryan requires &#8220;highly specialised and risky surgery&#8221; to treat a herniated disc in his back.<\/p>\n<p>The situation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant against Abraham Ehizojie, a Kuje correctional centre medical doctor, for failing to produce Gambaryan&#8217;s medical report.<\/p>\n<p>On September 2, the EFCC contested Gambaryan&#8217;s health claims through a counter affidavit filed by Iheanacho.<\/p>\n<p>Mordi submitted another bail application on August 28, seeking Gambaryan&#8217;s release on medical grounds, but the prosecution opposed it.<\/p>\n<p>EFCC counsel Ekele Iheanacho stated that Gambaryan&#8217;s health challenges are &#8220;not as serious&#8221; as claimed after reviewing his medical records.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On September 2, the EFCC objected to the health claims made by the Binance executive after Iheanacho filed a counter affidavit to the bail application.
