{"id":341422,"date":"2024-10-09T22:04:30","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T21:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=341422"},"modified":"2024-10-09T22:04:30","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T21:04:30","slug":"court-remands-4-over-alleged-suspension-of-ex-pdp-national-vice-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/09\/court-remands-4-over-alleged-suspension-of-ex-pdp-national-vice-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remands 4 over alleged suspension of ex-PDP national vice chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>They were arraigned after they purportedly suspended the South-East National Vice Chairman, Mr Ali Odefa, from the party.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>An Abakiliki Magistrate&#8217;s Court has ordered the remand of Augustine Nwazunku, former Ebonyi PDP Chairman, and three others in the correctional centre.<\/p>\n<p>The trio includes Obinna Nwachukwu, Njoku Nwagwu, and Ogbonnaya Idika, who allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/04\/pdp-suspends-national-vice-chairman-ali-odefa\/\"><strong>suspended<\/strong><\/a> South-East National Vice Chairman Ali Odefa from the party.<\/p>\n<p>They face a five-count charge, including conspiracy, cultism, forgery, impersonation, and carrying offensive weapons.<\/p>\n<p>According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Odefa&#8217;s suspension on October 3 stemmed from alleged anti-party activities.<\/p>\n<p>Senior State Counsel David Njoku stated that the defendants committed the offences on October 2 in Onicha Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>Njoku alleged that the defendants forged a letter claiming Odefa&#8217;s suspension, contravening Ebonyi State&#8217;s Criminal Code Laws.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They also broke the Ebonyi State Law Prohibiting Secret Cult Activities and Carrying of Offensive Weapons,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Magistrate Ojemba Isu-Oko denied bail to the defendants, citing lack of jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>Isu-Oko ordered their remand until November 18.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They were arraigned after they purportedly suspended the South-East National Vice Chairman, Mr Ali Odefa, from the party.
