{"id":341582,"date":"2024-10-11T04:52:31","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T03:52:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=341582"},"modified":"2024-10-11T04:52:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T03:52:31","slug":"sell-petrol-to-us-at-dangote-rate-of-below-n900-or-refund-our-money-ipman-tells-nnpc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/10\/11\/sell-petrol-to-us-at-dangote-rate-of-below-n900-or-refund-our-money-ipman-tells-nnpc\/","title":{"rendered":"Sell petrol to us at Dangote rate of below N900 or refund our money, IPMAN tells NNPC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Shettima lamented that the refusal of the state-owned petrol company to refund the petroleum marketers has put them in an awkward position financially<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2024\/08\/20\/ipman-faults-nnpcl-for-fuel-scarcity-says-no-supply-anywhere\/\">The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN),<\/a> has voiced its frustration with the National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) handling of the sale and distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.<\/p>\n<p>The National President of the association, Abubakar Shettima, implored NNPC to sell petrol to its members at the same rates offered by Dangote Petroleum Refinery.<\/p>\n<p>Shettima spoke on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television<\/p>\n<p>He also demanded a refund of the funds owed to the oil marketers, which have been held by NNPC for the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>Shettima lamented that the refusal of the state-owned petrol company to refund the petroleum marketers has put them in an awkward position financially, urging the NNPC to do the needful immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur major challenge now is that already, we have an outstanding debt by the NNPC and the company collected product through Dangote refinery at a lower rate \u2014 not up to N900.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresently, our money has been with them (NNPC) for almost three months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut with the recent changes, we have requested that they sell to us at Dangote price or return our money. That\u2019s the current situation and is the reason for the scarcity. We started negotiation yesterday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the national oil company has directed the IPMAN members \u201cto buy the product from them at the rate of N1,010 in Lagos, N1,045 in Calabar, N1,050 in Port Harcourt, and N1,040 in Warri\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing displeasure at the NNPC\u2019s stance that marketers should buy petrol directly from the Dangote refinery, Shettima said: \u201cWe have a problem with that because already, we buy products from them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when they made this increment, they told us to add money and buy above what Dangote is selling products to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is the reason we told them to return our monies to our banks so that we can go directly to Dangote refinery and buy, if that\u2019s the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NNPC does not sell on credit and we buy products ahead of loading.
